How this works
SCI uses the same physical measurements as Boone & Crockett — main beam length, tine lengths, four circumference (mass) measurements per side, and inside spread — but combines them differently. Where B&C subtracts a symmetry deduction for any difference between the left and right antler, SCI simply adds everything together: both beams, every normal tine, every abnormal or non-typical point, and all eight circumference measurements, with the spread capped at whichever main beam is longer.
\nWhy the two systems disagree on purpose
\nB&C's asymmetry deduction rewards a clean, matched rack and can meaningfully lower the score of an otherwise huge but lopsided animal. SCI's official position is that a trophy's size is what matters, not how symmetrical it is, so nothing gets subtracted and extra points only ever add to the total. Neither approach is more correct — they're just different, and this is why serious trophy hunters often score the same animal under both systems for their respective record books.
